Error Messages
1. You have the following error message: "Network Error: INITRESNOHTTP" or "error43"
Simple answer: ask your mobile phone carrier to add Mobile Data access to your phone!
Detailed answer: This means QuickIM has been unable to load the required language resources files from the network. The reason for this in 99% of the situations is you don't have a properly configured mobile data connection (sometime called "GPRS profile"). Try to open the page http://proxy.quickim.com from your mobile phone, your should read "Connection successful", if not you should verify with your mobile carrier. Always try to get assistance from your mobile carrier as they are the only people really capable to help (see below). If you are familiar with mobile data configurations, you will find some helpful information on the GPRS profile settings page.
Frequently encountered issues are:
- your mobile networking configuration is incorrect. To run QuickIM, you need to have a properly configured mobile internet access (GPRS or EDGE or 3G or WIFI...) account. Check with your mobile operator on how to configure a mobile networking profile on your phone to support web browsing, SMTP/POP3 email services (it's important to get POP3/SMTP compatible mobile data profile configured). For BlackBerry devices, you need to configure TCP settings if your mobile is not running on corporate BES/MDS server.
- your mobile networking configuration is correct, but you may be out of data services coverage temporarily (this happens often in the subway, on a train, on a airplane, when you are on board of a fast moving vehicle, when you are at an unusually crowded location, when the weather is bad, when you are roaming in a different country or city where your usual mobile carrier does not offer data services). In this case, wait until you are sure the data services are available and try again.
- QuickIM resource servers may be temporarily down, this is very rare and if this is the case, you won't be able to open this web page (http://www.quickim.com)
- on BlackBerry devices, make sure you have configured your TCP settings. If you already have correct TCP settings, another classic issue is the "Bad DNS Address" error, which is related to a BlackBerry operating system level's defect which occurs randomly with mobile applications. When this happens, remove the battery, wait a few seconds, put it back on and test again. It this error is persistent, your mobile carrier may have blocked access to some internet resources.
- java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException, this error probably means there is some server configuration issue on our side, please report this error to our support team.
In all situations, reading the support page available here will help you to find a lot of answers to classic questions.
