"Network Error: INITRESNOHTTP" or error43

please read the http://www.quickim.com/err/ page

Network Error Create socket: socket open timeout. Try again using default proxy server?

In this case, simply answer "yes" using your phone's menu items and the messenger will try to use the default proxy server to sign on. If you can still not sign on, call your mobile operator and verify that your phone is properly configured to use POP3/SMTP services. They should have a standard guide to setup POP3/SMTP email services on your phone. Once this step done, try again to connect QuickIM using the same GPRS network profile you just created for the POP3/SMTP services.

Question: when I try to download the jar or jad file, I get the error message "invalid file" or "Invalid descriptor"

Please verify in the page http://www.quickim.com/products/mobile-phones/j2me/j2me-midp-messenger-compatible-phones.html if your phone has MIDP 2.0 enabled. If it has MIDP 1.0, it won't be compatible with QuickIM

Error while connecting. Dispatch server error: Address=messenger.hotmail.com, Port=-1.......

Answer:

First make sure there is no known issue on the MSN messenger network, open the following link to verify:
http://status.messenger.msn.com/Status.aspx?product=wm

This is a network related error message. It means that you cannot access the required internet ressource for QuickIM. There are several possibilities to this:
- you need to configure in your mobile phone special permissions so the QuickIM midlet has the permission to access network, see your phone's user manual for specific information, look for the section on installing/configuration third party applications. Sometime quit the midlet and relaunch it opens the network permission dialog box (on Motorola A1000 for example)
- you are out of GPRS coverage or if your GPRS signal is weak or if you are in a fast moving vehicle, in this case, please try later
- you are using an incompatible GPRS connection, for example most WAP connections are not compatible with QuickIM. Here is a brief explanation: most internet connections enable to view web pages and e-mail applications, but you need an advanced internet connection for using advanced internet applications (for instance full 'web gprs' as opposed to 'wap gprs'). Each operator offers specific option levels for internet connections, with specific names depending on operators. You must contact your operator for the internet connection or data option plan, and try again to connect with your quickim software.

Question: I got an invalid archive while trying to install the software.

Response:

- if you have already installed QuickIM previously, please uninstall the existing version first
- please clear your phone's browser cache
- sometime mobile operator caches data for several days, you should be able to download and install the software when the operator level cache is cleaned.

Another solution is to download a trial version from http://www.quickim.com/products/mobile-phones/j2me/buy.html
and use desktop sync software to install the jad/jar files.
