QuickIM - Blackberry 7250
USA
Verizon
Unlimited Data Plan from Verizon

After installing QuickIM for the second time (successfully this time), I had one excellent converstion before putting QuickIM in Background. Shortly after going to background, Ii received the JVM error 523 message and had to do a soft reset of the unit. I am reporting it as directed in the announcement below.

Will this continue to happen? Does it only happen while in Background? Is there a fix?

"On some phones, the first time you run QuickIM and leave it in background mode, after some time, you may get a "JVM 523 reset" error message and need to restart the phone. Please report this to technical support if you happen to get a similar error. From BlackBerry error codes description, this is an error in the BlackBerry OS, we're currently working on this."

It seems that the JVM 523 error happens occasionally on some BlackBerry devices. It occurs more often if the application is running in background mode. It happens very rarely if it's not running in background.

We're investigating this, and will provide a fix immediately after we find the cause.

I have tried downloading QuickIM 1.2 but when I load it, my blackberry still says that I have 1.0 installed. How do I get to 1.2?

I found the problem. I was loading 1.2 but under Options, Applications, QuickIM it still said 1.0, but when looking About within the application, it says 1.2.

this seems to be an issue with the installer, we'll correct this. The correct version is in the about menu item of the software
