For other users, goto your mobile phone vendor's portal, look for support section, you can usually find tools that helps you to configure GPRS/WAP or email. Also you can try your mobile carrier's web portal, often they also provide either information or automatic configuration tools for your phone. Last solution: type in google your mobile operator name followed by your phone vendor name, followed by "gprs settings", ex:
orange samsung gprs settings
tmobile motorola gprs settings
you need to have a GPRS connection in order to use QuickIM. You should contact your mobile operator on this and verify you have subscribed to a mobile data plan that is at least compatible with POP3/SMTP services. You can usually ask for assistance to configure the GPRS settings to work with the SMTP/POP3 software. Make sure to configure in your phone application level permission so QuickIM can access the network. Make sure also to configure your GPRS connection so it does not close itself after short network idle time.
If you have problems connecting to the messenger server using QuickIM, but you can open web pages and/or send/receive email using your GPRS connection, then you can try the following:
configure the proxy settings in QuickIM: launch QuickIM, select settings/Server settings, then make sure to check "Use login server proxy" and under "Use sock proxy server" check "Use default", save the options and restart QuickIM. In most cases, this should solve the network connection problem.
If you get a lot of "Do you give permission for the application QuickIM to make a network connection to send/receive data?" message. Read the following:
By default your phone has a high level of security toward newly installed applications. To minimize the number of messages, on Nokia Series 60 phones, please open /Tools/Manager/. In the Installed software list, scroll down and look for QuickIM. Select it and click on Options/Settings, change the "Network access" value to "Ask first time". Click on Back/Exit.
Close QuickIM and restart it. Now you should be asked for permission only twice at the start time and no further questions afterwards.
To activate network settings properly on Nokia, you can try the following post from a Nokia user (thanks kuyakolin for sharing!):
