Once you are connected to the instant messaging network. You can start and run any other application, or simply close the phone, QuickIM will run silently in background mode. If you receive a new message, a sound alert will be produced.
From the Desktop screen, click on the keyboard Menu key, and in the left most menu options, you'll find QuickIM listed there. Simply select it to open QuickIM and read new incoming messages.
