In the menu items of QuickIM, you'll find an entry called "Run in background" in most screens, click on it to put QuickIM to run in background.

"Bad DNS Address" error message

If you get this error message, it's due to a bug of BlackBerry OS. You need to remove the battery and put it back on. After the reoot, you should be able to use QuickIM again.

Each time I try to connect to the Internet, I get the popup "The application ... has requested a http connection to ...". How can I make this popup not appear each time?

Below this message are two choices for "Allow this connection" or "Deny this connection". Below that are two checkboxes for "Don't ask this again" for either all http connections or only this particular http connection. Use the trackwheel to navigate to the desired checkbox and press the spacebar to select it. Then continue by selecting "Allow this connection". The popup should disappear for future connections.

How to get step by step support from my mobile operator

One way to get assistance from your mobile operator (only they can help you with the network settings) is to borrow another phone (not a Blackberry because BlackBerry does not use POP3/SMTP email services) with "standard" POP3/SMTP email capabilities, put your SIM card in this phone. Then contact your mobile operator as they should provide you free assistance on configuring a POP3/SMTP compatible GPRS profile on your new phone. Do not ask them to assist you directly with QuickIM as mobile operators don't provide assistance to third party applications. QuickIM can use the same GPRS settings as the POP3/SMTP service.
Once the settings done, you should have an up to date version of GPRS settings valid for your mobile phone similar to what you can find on http://www.quickim.com/support/gprs-settings.html
Now use the new TCP settings for your Blackberry device as explained on this page http://www.quickim.com/products/mobile-phones/blackberry/quickim-user-guide.html

If you have persistant errors, although QuickIM worked for you in the past, it can be related to some BlackBerry OS level issues. In this case, one solution is to "cleanup" the device.

Attention, this must be done carefully, QuickIM is not responsible for any data loss.

Below are the general steps to backup your data, reinstall the OS, and restore the data, read other related documentation online or in your user manual for detailed instructions:

1. Launch the BlackBerry Desktop Manager & connect your handheld to the PC
2. Synchronize
3. Backup email
4. Double-click "Application Loader"
5. Select 'Next'
6. Press the 'Advanced' button
7. Check off the box to Remove All Applications and continue
8. Reinstall your software
9. Synchronize and restore the data
